SPCA - 香港愛護動物協會 on the map.
Went with my two 6 year old nephews last weekend in hope of adopting a dog to SPCA Wanchai headquarter. Found a little poodle and they fall in love with it. Filled in the form to adopt and the staff said would take three days to investigate about address and stuff, and we went home excited. After several days no answer, no phone call, so I keep calling everyday but either the phone can't go through, or finally go through and left messages after messages, no one ever calls back. All we want is an answer, if the adoption is successful or not, and if failed, why so we could do better to apply next one. No answer. Ends up a week later, I have to go up the Wanchai headquarter to find out the answer is no, and the dog has been adopted. Asking why it failed, no answer. Given as they said, the selection criteria is base on: size of house, maids or not at home, experience with dogs at home, any adoption/ bad records in adoption record with them: We live in a house of 3,500 square feet with back nad front gardens, with 2 maids, and we have experienced in rearing dog and no bad records with their adoption at all, still not qualify. What frustrates us most is, I can't get through the phone, no answer, no reply of messages, and the kids are totally devasted after knowing it is not successful. At least I think we deserve to know why or a reply. They said "boycott the bad breeder" but what choices do we have if this is the service we get from them? I asked them would those second application for other adoptions have priorities, they said no. I asked why we failed, no answer. But they haven't even investigate our address or where we live yet, and base on what they choose? I told them if they want to encourage more adoption, this is not the way to treat people. For those who really wanted to adopt a dog, but failed the adoption process, at least need to know why and could work on it. Really sucks and would never want to do with anything with SPCA ever.
